Disputes in the opposition conditioned their participation in the dialogue

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, regretted this Friday that the Venezuelan opposition again refuses to establish the dialogue for peace that took place in the Dominican Republic, with the intermediation of the president of that nation, Danilo Medina , and the former Spanish president, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

“Unfortunately, in the opposition there have been divisions, electoral struggles, internal fights that have conditioned their participation as a bloc in the talks of dialogue and understanding and peace (that took place) in the Dominican Republic”, said the national leader during a work meeting at the Miraflores Palace.

He pointed out that the Bolivarian Government is ready for a first agreement with the opposition so that Venezuelans, despite any political differences, can establish peace in the country.

“I believe in the given word, I believe in the national understanding, I believe that only us Venezuelan men and women are responsible for finding solutions to our differences and problems. I am very sorry that the opposition falls and falls again into divisions and fights, and that they also fall to the pressures from Miami in Florida, USA”, he said.

He indicated that the opposition wants to impose on the country the division, the fight, the competition, the disagreements and the betrayals.

“They (the opposition) want to impose their world of fights, competition of candidacies, of mutual betrayals, and want to impose their issues”, he said.

He pointed out that the only mechanism to solve the internal problems that is facing Venezuela is through dialogue and mutual acknowledgement of the country’s political sectors. To this adds the approach of essential issues for the nation such as economic recovery, social protection of the people, which has been affected by unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States.

He informed that, despite the refusal of the opposition to advance in the negotiations of political dialogue, which also has the intermediation of the Community of Caribbean Countries (CARICOM), the 2017-2018 electoral schedule was established and approved by the opposition’s own leadership .

“The only way to approach and look for solutions and agreements is at the table of dialogue set in the Dominican Republic”, he said.
