Countries and social movements of the world reject kidnapping of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab

Countries and social movements around the world have expressed their rejection of the kidnapping of the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, and warned about the repercussions of this new aggression by the United States government against the current international legal system

One of the first nations to express their rejection of this illegal action was the Islamic Republic of Iran, rejecting the illegal extradition of the Venezuelan diplomat, Alex Saab to the United States, an action that was described as a destructive attitude that violates the sovereignty of Venezuela.

This was expressed by the Iranian Chancellor, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart, Felix Plasencia, in Tehran.

Other organizations, movements, personalities and governments have also expressed their rejection of the act of kidnapping Saab, ambassador to the African Union and sent to Russia and Iran.

São Paulo Forum condemns kidnapping of Alex Saab to the United States:

Similarly, the Executive Secretariat of the São Paulo Forum expressed through a statement its repudiation of the kidnapping of the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab to the United States in complicity with the government of Cape Verde.

“The US government, once again, shows that it does not respect international law, disregarding the immunity of a legitimate diplomatic representative, opening a serious international precedent,” denounced the Executive Secretariat of the São Paulo Forum.

The organization warned that “this aggression” puts at risk “the important process of dialogue that takes place in Mexico between the government of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan opposition, which was continuing in a complex but successful manner.”

“We demand from the US judicial authorities the immediate release and repatriation of Alex Saab, as well as the guaranteeing of his physical and psychological integrity, and we hope dialogue will be reestablished to overcome this unhappy and disastrous episode of international aggression”, he emphasized.

Cuba repudiates kidnapping:

For its part, the Cuban government set its position of repudiation of the kidnapping of the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, executed by the United States (USA) with the complicity of the Cape Verdean authorities.

From his account on the Twitter social network, the Cuban Chancellor, Bruno Rodríguez, affirmed that it is an “arbitrary detention, and the politically motivated judicial process of the US against Alex Saab.”

He expressed that this shameful act “constitutes a manipulation of justice and international law by a government that protects terrorists, attacks and stole funds from the Venezuelan people.”

Cuba joins the voices that within and abroad Venezuela express their overwhelming rejection of the kidnapping of Venezuelan Special Envoy Alex Saab, who was detained in flagrant violation of all the norms of international law.

Likewise, Sacha Llorenti, executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, presented in a message through his account @SachaLlorenti on the Twitter social network, the official communiqué in which the organization expresses its “strongest condemnation of kidnapping by the United States of America, of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, which occurred on October 16, 2021”.

In the communiqué, the organization urged “respect for the life and physical integrity of citizen Alex Saab” and ratified its support for the Venezuelan Government and the people in all the actions they undertake as a sovereign nation to ensure and protect the human rights of its citizens”.
