US sanctions are an opportunity to move towards an autonomous production model

The sanctions by the US Government, which prohibit negotiations on new debt by the State and Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), are an opportunity to move towards the construction of an autonomous economic model, as said on Thursday the Constituent deputy Eduardo Piñate.

“It is an opportunity for us to continue making progress in the construction of our production model, the autonomous, sovereign, independent production model”, he said during the ANC’s regular session.

Piñate, who chairs the Committee on Diversified and Productive Economics, believes that in the face of US measures, which in his view seek to stifle Venezuela financially, what remains is to call for the national unity of all productive sectors.

He stressed that they will call on all sectors in order “to advance, to open the way, to overcome once and for all the worn-out oil rentier model”.

He added that the Committee on Diversified and Productive Economy will declare itself in permanent session, “to attend to all the problems that affect the people”, which in his view derive from the economic war and the decline of oil prices.

In this Thursday’s session, the National Constituent Assembly discusses the decree calling for a constituent dialogue for a diversified economy.
