Arreaza: It was shown that the empire does not rule in the OAS

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, confirmed on Wednesday that once again it was demonstrated in the Organization of American States, OAS, that the United States Government does not rule after having as a result in the voting for the suspension of the country in the organization, only 19 votes in favor, 11 abstentions and four votes against.

«Despite all the pressures, Haiti and the rest of the Caribbean countries had the firmness to defend Venezuela, but it was demonstrated that imperialism does not even rule in the Organization of American States, it was a resounding failure, they were asked for at least 24 votes, and they achieved the same 19 as ever, they were in decline and this is a sign of the moral defense of the peoples of our Americas», added Arreaza.

From the Organization of American States (OAS), in Washington, he added during a press conference that the Assembly called for had no central issue: «This time it was only an excuse to address the issue of isolation of Venezuela, to procure orders the United States Government gave with an interventionist nature so that the countries of this organization could isolate Venezuela».

He pointed out that there was a lot of pressure on all the countries of Our Americas, on the «sovereign states of the Caribbean that were extorted by the United States, that did not give in and that proved they are worthy representatives of their peoples».

The Chancellor said that there is a clearly established script and Venezuela respects its commitments and obligations as a sovereign people, and therefore he attends the meeting until Venezuela withdraws in its entirety from the organization.

«It is a pride, a joy and happiness for the people of Venezuela to leave the OAS (…) we are a sovereign State and we have the right to withdraw», he said.
