Russia qualifies as unacceptable any claim of military intervention against Venezuela

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described the threats of military intervention in Venezuela as “unacceptable” and declared that: “The crisis must be solved exclusively by peaceful means” and “without any intervention from abroad”.

“We agree on the need to quickly overcome the existing disagreements in this country (Venezuela) exclusively through a peaceful dialogue, a national dialogue without any external pressure,” said Lavrov at the end of a meeting with his Bolivian counterpart Fernando Huanacuni Mamani, in Moscow.

The Head of the Russian diplomacy recalled that Donald Trump’s threats regarding a military option against Venezuela “were harshly condemned by the overwhelming majority of Latin American states.”

“Venezuela is also in the search of its own democratic process and that is important in order to be able to generate dialogues and to contribute to the processes, but with respect to sovereignty, rejecting any intervention or any intention of intervention to the country, in this case Venezuela” , as noted the Bolivian Chancellor.

Washington’s military option:

Last week, Trump assured that Washington handles “many options” regarding the situation of Venezuela, noting that a “military option” is not ruled out. “We have our troops around the world, in very, very distant places,” and Venezuela “is not far away,” said the US President.

For its part, the Venezuelan Government rejected the military threat on the part of Washington. Venezuelan Minister of Communication and Information, Ernesto Villegas Poljak, described the words of the United States President as “The most serious and insolent threat ever made against the Homeland of Bolivar”.
