Begins pre-electoral ban on DEC-6 parliamentarian elections in Venezuela

This Friday Venezuela enters the electoral ban stage with a planned period of two days before the elections to elect the new National Assembly (AN).

The period begins after the end of the campaign this Thursday at 12:00 midnight, at which point no party or candidate can carry out propaganda and proselytizing activities.

107 organizations with national and regional political ends and representatives of indigenous peoples and communities participate in these elections, of this total 98 are from the opposition.

The nominations of candidates were made from August 10 to September 4 and were 14,000, representing more than 90% of the political organizations registered with the National Electoral Council.

The parliamentary representation that will be elected has 52% of the proportional system (144 deputies) and 48% of the nominal (133 deputies), an innovation that strengthens proportionality and political pluralism.

Likewise, the number of deputies to be elected increased, from 167 to 277, 66% based on the growth in population density, which reaches 32 million people.

This election, the 25th since 1998, presents a new electoral technological solution with biosafety that guarantees the vote and health of the electorate in the face of a covid-19 pandemic, in a context of reliability and transparency.

The electoral material, impregnated with a bio-sanitary protocol, contains elements that guarantee the health of voters and members of the 29,000 voting boards in 14,221 centers throughout the country.

For this Sunday’s election appointment, a list of 20,710,421 voters will participate, of which 251,398 are new voters and 483,896 are people with some disability.
