The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, assured that the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) will be a mechanism that will allow to channelize the political dialogue in order to guarantee peace and eradicate the spiral of violence that has been unleashed in recent months.
“The National Constituent Assembly will truly have the capacity to dialogue with a whole country and I am sure that with that power and the group of international friends, we will lead, channelize the political dialogue for peace, so that the opposition disarm their violent groups”, said the Executive during a press conference with the international media held from Miraflores Palace.
He stressed that the structure of the ANC with the representation of 364 territorial and 181 sectoral candidates, guarantees the representation of the entire population in order to achieve a dialogue that incorporates all the social sectors of the country.
“Are going to be elected 364 plenipotentiary constituents with the entire power of the Republic, going to all the communities of the country”, he said, while highlighting the election of sectoral candidates “who are going to devote themselves to the specific sectoral issue.”
The Executive explained that the distribution of sectoral candidates, which consists of 79 representatives by the workers, 5 by the business sector, 8 indigenous, 24 students, 8 peasants, 5 for people with disabilities, 28 pensioners and 24 representatives by the community councils.
In his speech, President Maduro congratulated the Venezuelan delegation led by outgoing chancellor Delcy Rodriguez, and her successor, Samuel Moncada, for their performance at the 47th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) against the attempt to violate internal rules in order to justify an intervention of foreign forces in Venezuela, attacking the sovereignty.
“Thank you, you have defended the shield of peace of Venezuela”, he said.
