BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA
MINISTRY OF PEOPLE’S POWER
FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS

COMMUNIQUÉ

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deep concern at the differences that have arisen between some brotherly Governments of Arab countries in the Gulf, fed by biased and interested media versions that seek the confrontation between peoples united by common bonds.

Venezuela, which is a brotherly country to the Arab people and a historic partner to the Gulf States in the battle for the protection and defense of our energy resources, shares important multilateral spaces in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM), both with the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Bahrain, among others, concerned in the current situation of breaking diplomatic relations.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela calls for understanding and overcoming current differences through frank and constructive diplomatic dialogue, while dismissing any actions that may exacerbate the ongoing conflict.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela sincerely hopes for the full restoration of fraternal ties between important countries of the Middle East Region, demands respect for sovereignty and the principle of self-determination of peoples, and offers its good offices to help overcome this situation that disturbs the normal relationship in a region so important for the economic, political and cultural life of the international community.
