Venezuela appreciates WHO cooperation in the battle against Covid-19

Venezuela thanked the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, for his cooperation with the people of the nation in their battle against Covid-19.

This was expressed by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, through her account on the Twitter social network:

On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we thank Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for his cooperation with the people of Venezuela in the battle against Covid-19. We advocate for the end of vaccine inequity in the world and we highlight the effectiveness of the Sputnik-V, Sinopharm and Abdala vaccines in Venezuela”, she wrote.

On behalf of President @NicolasMaduro, we thank Dr @DrTedros for his cooperation with the people of Venezuela in the battle against COVID-19. We advocate for the end of vaccine inequity in the world and highlight the effectiveness of the Sputnik V, Sinopharm and Abdala vaccines in Venezuela”.

Tedros Adhanom thanked Venezuela “for its constructive call on the Covid-19 situation and response”, and its efforts to expand equitable access to vaccines.

The WHO demands the fair and equitable distribution of vaccines against Covid-19, since, in its opinion, the majority of immunizers are being applied in high and upper-middle-income countries.

The poor distribution of vaccines has caused new variants of the virus to continue to appear and the number of contacts and deaths to continue to increase:

“The impulse of the developed countries to vaccinate their population once, twice or three times will be insufficient if the rest of the world remains unvaccinated and new variants of Covid-19 keep appearing”, said Adhanom.
