Venezuela is heading towards the recovery of the democratic space

The Chairman of the Presidential Commission for the National Constituent Assembly, Elías Jaua, said on Saturday that: “the country is heading towards the recovery of political, electoral and democratic space, and that is what the overwhelming majority of the Venezuelan people wants.”

The statement was made during the meeting of indigenous peoples in support of the ANC, in Plaza Venezuela, where he pointed out that violence is being isolated and violent groups are becoming smaller.

“The democratic spirit is taking shape in the streets, in the towns, in the fields, in the universities of the country. There will be debate, constituent elections, there will be a constituent national assembly and there will be constitutional elections. ”

Jaua stressed that indigenous, peasant, communal and popular forces will join the Constituent Assembly to defend the social, political and cultural rights reached by the historically excluded majorities.

Faced with the possibility that the right wing may again refuse to participate in the constitutional process, he explained that, just as it  happened in 2004 and 2005, this time the democratic society will manifest itself and there will be elections.

“The Constituent Assembly is going to transform the State, it will produce the necessary changes, it will reorganize the State so that there is justice and guarantee the peace and coexistence of all Venezuelans.”
