Government decrees March 12 as National Day of the CLAP

March 12 was decreed as the National Day of the Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP).
The announcement was made by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the special program of “La Hora de la Salsa” (The Salsa Hour), broadcast  by Radio Miraflores.
This new form of people’s organization was created by the Executive power so that the communities themselves supply and distribute the priority food through a modality of house-by-house delivery of products, as a mechanism to combat the resale and smuggling of staple items.
