The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the Venezuelan Red Cross Law during the plenary session was debated the second reading of the bill, which seeks to protect the activities of this aid and relief organization.
“It is approved by unanimity the Law of the Venezuelan Red Cross! Therefore, the law is declared enacted and sent to the Acting President, Dr. Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, for its promulgation, in accordance with Article 213 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. I will now sign the enacted law and the letter addressed to the acting president,” announced the president of the Legislative Branch, Jorge Rodríguez, after putting the project of Law to a voting.
Likewise, he added, “I call upon the distinguished guests who have patiently and graciously endured our presence to come forward and receive the law passed by the National Assembly,” said the head of the parliamentary leadership to the representatives of the International Red Cross (IRC) and the institution in Venezuela, who confirmed their support for this new legislation.
Thus, Venezuela now has a new legal framework for the Red Cross in the country, with the clear objective of supporting and protecting vulnerable populations in emergency situations.
Likewise, volunteers are also protected under this legislation, which was debated in an ordinary session for over an hour and 40 minutes, to discuss the approved bill, which consists of 28 articles divided into seven chapters.
