The National Government issued a new official report detailing the extent of the tragedy and the relief efforts on the ground following the seismic emergency, which has now generated 1,284 aftershocks. The report confirmed that the death toll rises to 4,829 and the number of injured to 16,740, while it was achieved to rescue 6,462 people alive.
To face this situation, the government maintains a deployment of 30,989 security and prevention personnel, 31,315 national volunteers, and a contingent of 2,408 international rescuers. Regarding infrastructure, the report indicates 190 buildings completely collapsed, 856 properties damaged, and 17,907 people left homeless. In order to ensure their safety, were enabled 106 temporary camps which are currently housing 20,857 citizens.
Likewise, it was reached the number of 34,872 patients assisted, and was distributed a total of 10,063 tons of food and 24,232,965 liters of drinking water to the most vulnerable communities. Furthermore there was provided integral attention to 128,324 affected families, prioritizing social stabilization.
