In her address to the 81st Ordinary Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, presented herself to the world with a message of reconciliation and sovereignty:
«I come to this Assembly as a daughter of Venezuela to present the aspirations of a country seeking to build its own destiny,» she affirmed, alluding to years of political conflict that limited opportunities for mutual understanding, as well as the effects of the economic blockade that severely impacted the model of inclusion and equality that characterizes the country.
The National Dignitary offered a profound self-critique regarding the recent past, acknowledging the social cost of extremism. «For too long, we were a country divided by trenches, where the color of a party flag weighed more than the common name we all share: Venezuelans,» she reflected.
With these words, the President highlighted that political fragmentation not only weakened the State but also hindered the harmonious development of a society that—above any ideology—shares a common identity and destiny.
Within this context, the Head of State made a solemn call to transition toward a new historical cycle grounded in democratic coexistence.
«That chapter must close, in order to usher in a new political era based on truth, justice, and the ability to look forward together,» she declared, as the only path to overcoming differences that is the consolidation of respectful political dialogue in Venezuela.
