The President of the National Assembly, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/National), swore in Larry Devoe as Acting Attorney General and Tarek William Saab as Acting Ombudsman, both in an interim capacity.
From the Triptych Hall of the Federal Legislative Palace, Acting Attorney General Larry Devoe swore to uphold the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and all laws related to the exercise of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Devoe considered to work tirelessly to contribute to a justice system that leaves behind stigma and discrimination.
Larry Devoe is a lawyer, an expert in Human Rights, and holds a Master’s degree in Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Democracy; studies completed at universities in Spain; and a specialization in Criminal Law.
Preserving Peace:
For his part, Tarek William Saab will serve as Acting Ombudsman. He is a lawyer, poet, and expert in Criminal and Procedural Law, and has also served as a member of the Constituent Assembly and governor of Anzoátegui State.
Saab indicated that, as Attorney General, he fulfilled the constitutional role of preserving peace and protecting the human rights of the Venezuelan people during a period of foreign aggression, assassination attempts, maritime incursions, and drone attacks.
“We are proud to have been formed with base on the values of republican ethics. Furthermore, we promote actions in favor of the most vulnerable sectors of society, such as children, women, the elderly, and pets, without any distinction based on their condition,” he concluded.
