National Assembly approves Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence

The National Assembly (AN) this Thursday unanimously approved the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence in its second reading, complying with Article 106 of the Rules of Procedure and Debate. Following a process of parliamentary dialogue, the legislative body gave the green light to this instrument comprised of 16 articles, which aim to strengthen the country’s political and social framework.

During the session, the Chairman of the Parliament, Dr. Jorge Rodríguez, declared the law as passed and ordered its immediate submission to the Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, for its promulgation in accordance with Article 213 of the Constitution. Deputy Jorge Arreaza, president of the Special Committee in charge of the bill, stressed on the spirit of understanding of the journey, affirming that each point was thoroughly analyzed to achieve parliamentary consensus.

At the clossure of the debate, Arreaza highlighted the importance of the agreement reached among the various political factions represented in the Parliament. Regarding the success of the consultation and the final drafting of the text, the parliamentarian highlighted: “Each article of this instrument was extensively discussed, where there were great consensus that should be celebrated today,” detailing that the normative represents a significant step towards national stability.
