The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that more than 61,000 inspections have been carried out nationwide, identifying 11,000 homes in the «red sign» category.
During a thorough inspection of the temporary camp set up at the Poliedro de Caracas, where she highlighted the deployment of the Executive Branch to safeguard the population, the Head of State explained that the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing and Infrastructure Habitability is conducting a second, much more rigorous evaluation.
In her intervention, the President emphasized the importance of recognizing the geographical nature of the territory, noting that Venezuela is a country with constant seismic activity. «We must accept this, and we must have a culture of being a seismic country,» she declared, insisting that prevention must be the central focus of risk management.
Under these conditions, Rodríguez urged the authorities and the construction sector to raise the safety standards so that the national infrastructure is resilient to any geological eventuality.
