During his “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the hammer) program, the Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, updated the number of people released from prison up to date: 808 citizens.
The leader clarified that these measures respond to a state policy initiated under instructions of President Nicolás Maduro.
Cabello emphasized that the Executive Branch has given continuity to a presidential order issued in December, aimed at pacification and national dialogue.
Likewise, he rejected the use of the “political prisoners” label employed by certain sectors, qualifying it as a campaign that seeks to distort the reality of the ongoing legal proceedings.
Denounce of international hypocrisy:
The also Minister for Interior Relations pointed out what he considers a contradiction on the part of those who celebrate the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro in the United States while at the same time demand releases in Venezuela:
“Why don’t they ask for him too? He is a political prisoner. Don’t take advantage of this; that’s the hypocrisy,” he questioned.
Cabello reiterated that the Bolivarian Government maintains its roadmap towards political stability, dismissing the opinion matrix that attempt to use these releases for purposes of external political propaganda.
