Delcy Rodríguez llama a erradicar la política como un show

President Delcy Rodríguez urges to eradicate «politics as a show» and calls to assume governance with responsibility

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, urged political actors to eradicate the trivialization of public service and to focus their efforts on decisions that directly impact the well-being of the Venezuelan people:

«I truly believe that ‘politics as a show’ must come to an end, because politics is a very serious matter. It concerns the lives of citizens, because every decision we make affects the lives of the population,» she remarked.

In this same context, she made reference to works executed: «There are the airports, there are temporary structures on which the people have had very positive comments. So, let us move away from the show and focus on ensuring that politics remains a serious endeavor.»

By insisting on the need to assume governance with absolute responsibility, the President reiterated: «I truly believe that politics as a show must cease, because politics is a very serious matter. It concerns the lives of citizens, as every decision we make affects the lives of the population.» She added: «There are the airports, there are temporary structures on which the people have had very positive comments. So, let us move away from the show and focus on ensuring that politics remains a serious endeavor.»

Furthermore, in the scope of democratic coexistence, the President expressed her hope that traditional political sectors would adopt a constructive stance: «I hope there might be repentance, remorse, and a change of course, so that they might contribute something to the country.»

Likewise, in addressing institutional transformations within the legal sphere, she highlighted the Executive branch’s efforts: «Justice is a matter on which work is being done to ensure that in Venezuela justice is transparent, is independent, but, above all, to ensure that poverty is not criminalized, as the poor are the primary victims of the justice system in Venezuela.»

Finally, reflecting on her own personal experience in light of allegations regarding civil rights in the country, she concluded: «As a child, I was personally a victim of political persecution, along with my family. There is no political persecution in Venezuela; this is the new Venezuela I aspire to, and the new Venezuela for which I am working.»
