IMF considers opening office in Venezuela to facilitate technical cooperation

According to Reuters, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is exploring with the authorities the possibility of opening an office in Venezuela to facilitate technical cooperation.

«The Fund and Venezuelan authorities are considering establishing a local presence in Venezuela to facilitate this technical cooperation and the development of capacities,» stated IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack.

IMF Director, Kristalina Georgieva, had previously indicated that the goal is to identify key areas such as macroeconomic statistics, foreign exchange and monetary operations, as well as treasury and tax administration.

On September 21, the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, met with Georgieva in New York, United States.
