At the Ibero-American Conference, held this Thursday in New York as part of a work breakfast for Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Joaquín Pérez Ayestarán, Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment within the framework of the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
During his intevention in this forum, conceived as a pluralistic space for dialogue, the diplomat argued that progress must be made toward lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Venezuela, as a gesture of good faith to foster economic cooperation.
The Ibero-American Conference as a space for dialogue and cooperation:
Under this principle, he noted that the value of the community fostered within the Ibero-American Conference should not be measured solely by shared history, but also by «what we are capable of building together.» In this regard, he stated that Venezuela is committed to a pluralistic Ibero-America—one capable of engaging in dialogue despite differences, building trust, and transforming shared interests into concrete cooperation.
Moreover, Pérez Ayestarán expressed gratitude for the international solidarity received following the earthquakes of last June 24, highlighting the value of a community built upon deep historical and cultural ties. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening prevention and early warning systems for civil protection in preparation for the upcoming Madrid Summit.
Finally, he welcomed efforts to strengthen ties between the Ibero-American Conference and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Angola, India, and Türkiye, advocating for a cooperation that establishes capabilities installed for technological development, innovation, and the reduction of inequalities, while taking into account digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
