In a message addressed to the youth and the Venezuelan families affected by the double earthquake of June 24, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, called for national unity to face the process of the country’s material and spiritual reconstruction. Speaking from UN headquarters, the Dignitary called upon young people who had emigrated to return and actively join in building a prosper economy of opportunities.
The President addressed her words to the Venezuelan youth, highlighting the importance of their participation in the nation’s new political and institutional era:
«To the young people who grew up seeing a fractured country and who often chose to leave in search of what they could not find here: I tell you that it is worth believing again. This is the moment to build a country to which many will want to return, rather than just one from which many wanted to flee.»
Referring to the resilience shown by the citizenry in the face of natural disasters and economic hardships, the Head of State reaffirmed the collective will to overcome adversity:
«To every Venezuelan who today, amidst the material or human loss left by the earthquake, asks if it is worth staying strong: I answer that it is. The strength of this people is not measured in easy times, but precisely in moments like this one.»
The Dignitary emphasized that the country’s comprehensive recovery requires a sustained effort centered on the unity of all sectors: «I do not promise you an easy path. The country’s recovery will take time; rebuilding the national soul will be our priority. We will walk united as a single nation that has decided, after the pain, to choose hope.»
