Upon returning to the country after participating in the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, evaluated the situation of the national electrical system following work meetings with her government team.
The senior official visited the National Electric Power Dispatch Center to monitor the system’s performance amidst the recent heatwave. During the inspection, she reported that the country had recorded a peak demand exceeding 16,400 megawatts, a consumption figure not seen since 2017, and that is directly linked to rising temperatures nationwide.
In light of the effects of the weather phenomenon known as the «Super Niño,» Rodríguez called for public awareness and a collective effort to optimize energy use, placing special emphasis on regulating air conditioning and electrical appliance usage in homes to ensure a stable power supply across the country.
