During the formal ceremony for the presentation of the 2026 Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted the fundamental role played by media professionals in defending informative sovereignty.
In her remarks, she noted that the presentation of the award was taking place at a pivotal moment for Venezuela, for a variety of reasons. She also reiterated that the current exercise of journalism must be deeply rooted in truth and the protection of national interests, emphasizing that the written and spoken word is a powerful tool for countering disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining the country’s stability.
The Head of State also made a call to the award recipients and the profession as a whole to maintain unwavering ethics, reminding them that the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar should serve as the compass guiding every investigation and report.
The National Journalism Award was presented not only to national media outlets but also to regional and community media, as well as to YouTubers and influencers.
Finally, the event concluded with special recognition for professionals who have distinguished themselves through their courage and persistence in the pursuit of truthful reporting.
