The U.S. Secretary of the Department of Energy, Christopher Wright, announced that the agreements signed on Tuesday with multinational corporations Chevron, Eni, and General Electric represent tens of millions of dollars in direct investments, impacting the National Electric System (SEN), the oil and gas industry, and the entire Venezuelan energy sector.
He explained that the purpose of this agreement is to boost the Venezuelan oil industry to unprecedented levels through massive investments aimed at revitalizing the economy, reducing inflation, and improving the quality of life in the country.
Wright also manifested that his heart «was in sorrow» upon learning of the effects of the double earthquake on June 24, expressing that both he and the American people felt pain and fear in the face of the tragedy. He indicated that this solidarity allowed for the mobilization of aid to Venezuela at a critical moment.
Finally, he announced that, after the press conference, US authorities would visit the families most affected by the seismic event to verify their situation and reaffirm that solidarity between both peoples will not only be present these days, but in generations to come.
