The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved this Tuesday, in its second reading, the Draft Organic Law for the Partial Reform of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ). This draft includes modifications to the structure of the Judicial Nominations Committee, a process that motorizes the appointment or renewal of its magistrates, in accordance with Articles 264 and 270 of the Constitution.
Among the objectives debated in an extraordinary session, is highlighted the expansion of the Committee’s membership to 23, since the Organic Law of TSJ stipulated that this body had 21 members, 11 of whom were deputies of the Parliament, and 10 from sectors of the Venezuelan civil society.
The reform project aims to establish the adequacy of the Judicial Nominations Committee, the renewal of magistrates, and the in-depth monitoring of the transformation of processes to guarantee a faster, more efficient, and transparent justice system.
