The President of Parliament, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/National), reaffirmed this Thursday, in an extraordinary session, that the decisions of the Legislative Branch belong exclusively to the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2025.
«The decisions that, according to the Constitution, correspond to the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, will only be discussed and decided, as established in the Internal Regulations and Debate Rules of the National Assembly that was duly elected in 2025,» detailed the parliamentarian.
This declaration took place during the first discussion of the Draft Partial Reform of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice, where Rodríguez reaffirmed the National Government’s willingness to engage in productive dialogue with all sectors of the opposition.
He ratified that the funds and gold improperly withheld in Great Britain, once recovered, will be entirely allocated to the attention of infrastructure, health, housing, and debris removal in the zones affected by the seismic doublet of June 24.
Justice System Reform:
The deputy noted that advances are being made in the integral review of the administration of justice, from the Supreme Court down to parish judges, with the aim of eradicating the commercialization of justice, curbing the abuses of NGOs in criminal proceedings, and combating the extortion of prisoners by certain actors and organizations.
During the debate, the president of the Legislative Branch endorsed the proposal raised by the vice president of the National Assembly, Deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Miranda), who presented the reform bill and urged all parliamentary blocs to decisively deepen the transformation of the Venezuelan justice system.
Rodríguez assured that the selection and nomination process for the 32 Supreme Court justices will strictly adhere to constitutional deadlines and norms.
He reiterated that the legal and legitimate power to appoint judicial authorities rests exclusively with the members of the current National Assembly.
