President Delcy Rodríguez, speaking at the handover ceremony for recovered housings in Caracas, manifested again the solidarity of Venezuela with the people of Colombia following the earthquake that struck on Monday, August 10, affecting several cities and leaving more than 100 deceased.
She also emphasized that the Venezuelan Chancellor, Félix Plasencia, spoke with his Colombian counterpart to coordinate the necessary support. She also indicated that the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force is ready to go to the aid of «our brothers and sisters, once the Government of that country authorizes it.»
The Head of State recalled the support Venezuela had from many countries around the world, including Colombia. “So we know what it’s like to go through a situation like this, because on June 24th, our country was struck by a double earthquake unlike anything ever seen before, and the world is studying it because of its unprecedented nature,” she said.
It was known that, according to Consolidated Report No. 12 published this Tuesday by the Colombian Association of Capital Cities (Asocapitales), the number of confirmed deceases from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake has risen to 181, while a provisional toll of 1,310 injured was reported.
