The Presidential Commission for the Habitability Assessment of Infrastructure has begun the second phase of its technical deployment to thoroughly examine structures categorized with yellow and red flags. This information was confirmed by the president of the body, Francisco Garcés, who specified that this stage will determine the requirements for buildings affected by the earthquakes.
When meeting a month after the creation of the government agency, Garcés highlighted the work of 2,687 professionals who have completed 32,485 evaluations in the seven states hardest hit by the seismic doublet of June 24. Likewise, the spokesperson also expressed his satisfaction with the work done and confirmed a steady pace of 2,000 assessments per day.
In the territorial breakdown, Garcés detailed that in Caracas were made 17,832 inspections, resulting in 11,946 buildings being rated green, with the remainder distributed between yellow and red flags. La Guaira state accounts for 12,552 evaluations, with 5,069 rated green, 3,110 yellow, and 4,373 red, while in Miranda were reviewed 4,878 structures, with 3,840 rated green, 634 yellow, and 404 red.
The president of the commission also announced a third phase focused on the development and implementation of structural repair projects for the affected buildings. For this process, the authorities will maintain a unified and coordinated work with the various state and municipal governments involved.
Finally, the President of the Commission indicated that local and regional governments will act as recipients of future work notifications. Similarly, the head of the agency indicated that in the coming days will be offered more details about the development of subsequent stages.
