The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held this Wednesday a meeting with representatives of the United Nations (UN) to continue addressing issues related to the assistance to the victims of the earthquakes of last June 24.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla, reported that the organization he represents is working under a scheme of close collaboration with State institutions to provide a high-level technical response. Rampolla was accompanied by Luis Francisco Thais, Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Janeth Fernández, Post-Disaster Needs Assessment Advisor; and Luis Bárcenas, Economic Advisor.
Representing the Venezuelan Government at this meeting were present the Sectoral Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism and Minister of People’s Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez; the Sectoral Vice President for Economy, Calixto Ortega; the Sectoral Vice President for Public Works and Services and Minister of People’s Power for Public Works, Juan José Ramírez; the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Trade, Félix Plasencia; and the Vice Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco.
President Delcy Rodríguez has thanked the efforts and cooperation of the multilateral organizations represented by the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Venezuela, which contribute to the humanitarian aid plan and offer its friendly hand to attend those affected by the earthquakes.
