Within the context of the emergency caused by the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro issued an official message to all citizens. In the document, the head of state manifested his full support for the affected families, urged maximum social cohesion, and called on the population to actively collaborate with the security and rescue teams deployed in the affected areas.
Following, the message issued by the Executive Branch is reproduced textually:
“Beloved People of Venezuela: Given the powerful earthquake that has hit our Homeland, Cilia and me raise our prayers for each affected family, for those wounded, for those who suffer and for our entire people. Today the word is just one: Maximum union, maximum solidarity and maximum action. Let nobody be left alone, let each community take care of their children, of their grandparents, of their ill ones, and may everyone accompany the work of the rescue corps, PNB, FANB, Civil Protection, physicians, firemen, workers and volunteers.
In this difficult hour we call on the national unity, on serenity and the concrete love: To help, to protect, to share, to lift and reconstruct. Venezuela has faced great challenges and we will also come strengthened from this one, with faith, discipline and solidarity. Our heart and our prayers are with you. May God bless and protect Venezuela!”
