Venezuela assumes Vice Presidency of the council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States

The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) re-elected the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to assume the Vice Presidency of the Council of Ministers for the 2026-2027 term, reaffirming the commitment of the Member States to the principles of sovereign equality, inclusion, and full participation that underpin the integration mechanism, according to a press release from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs.

The decision was adopted during the 31st Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States, celebrated this Sunday, June 21, in Panama City, Panama, where the Republic of Nicaragua assumed the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and Saint Lucia was elected to the Second Vice Presidency of the Council of Ministers; both being congratulated by Venezuela.

In keeping with the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, the Venezuelan delegation that participated in the ACS meeting was led by the Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Álvaro Sánchez Cordero, and the Director General for the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gustavo Díaz Aular.

Likewise, Venezuela will become an active part of the directive boards of Special Committees on Transportation and on Trade Development and External Economic Relations of the Association.

Recently, the ACS approved the new Greater Caribbean Strategic Plan 2035, which updates and redirects the organization’s mission, vision, and implementation to prepare the region for new global challenges—actions that the Venezuelan government strongly supports.
