The Solemn Session for the Bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama, held by the National Assembly this Monday, together with the 24 state legislative councils and the 335 municipal councils of the country, sends a clear and resounding message of unity and peace to the world.
For the first time in history, the entire Venezuelan legislative body, in all its categories (national, regional, and municipal), is gathered in a single venue to hold a session. In this opportunity the event took place in the Ríos Reyna Hall of the Teresa Carreño Theater Cultural Complex, located in Caracas.
In this hall, which has a capacity of 2,367 spectators, were also present representatives of opposition factions, a detail highlighted by the president of the Legislative Council of Aragua State, Tatiana Hernández, who was accompanied by legislators and council members from the state’s 18 municipalities:
«We are saying we’re present for history, for the tranquility of the country, for peace, and for democratic coexistence,» she stated. She also emphasized the importance of the roadmap because it raises the people’s historical awareness so they can take on the task of reflecting on the work of the liberators.
For his part, the president of the Legislative Council of Miranda State, Gustavo Prieto, explained that, through this joint session, Venezuela reaffirms its call for Latin American unity. He believes that it is the people who must unite:
«Politics, public administration, and freedom are in the hands of the people. That is why Bolívar convened the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama, which did not produce the results of that time.» However, we have a commitment to The Liberator, to uphold Latin American unity. From Venezuela, we call on the world to unite,” she emphasized.
Another interviewee was the president of the Legislative Council of Barinas state, legislator Keissy Gómez, who described this meeting as historic: “Once again, Bolívar calls on us and finds us engaged in an action such as the legislative,” she stated.
Gómez specified that the session offers the world, once again, a call for unity. “In this bicentennial, the message is one of unity, and proof of this is that opposition deputies are participating here,” she expressed.
Meanwhile, for the vice president of the Legislative Council of the Indigenous State of Amazonas, legislator Glenys Trujillo, this session allowed them to recognize themselves, along with their colleagues from other states and municipalities, as a single team.
“Venezuela is demonstrating its unity. Unity in the face of adversity. And this is the call we make to all countries.” “Today, Venezuela is more united than ever,” Trujillo declared.
Council members speak:
The president of the Municipal Council of Valencia, Councilor Yudelcys Marín, accompanied by 13 council members, emphasized the importance of working together to advance the country forward: “This demonstrates the unity and peace that exists in Venezuela. We are working calmly, prepared, and united,” she noted.
For his part, Caracas councilman Edwin Velásquez described this joint session as a great success. He recalled that the call from the acting president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, as well as that made by The Liberator (Simón Bolívar), is a call to Latin American and Caribbean countries for unity, freedom, independence, and sovereignty.
“This meeting of all the country’s parliaments demonstrates the national consensus.” «These parliamentarians, who are the voice of their people in each territory, are meeting today to demonstrate that there is unity, that we want to reconcile and raise our voices to the people to come together and become a monolithic force to advance,» he stressed.
