Protein Plan consolidates nutritional growth: Food consumption in Venezuela registered an Increase of 9.4% in May

The President in Charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that at the end of May 2026, the overall food consumption in the country registered a solid increase of 9.4%.

During a deployment of social protection in the Altagracia parish of Caracas, the Dignitary in Charge explained that the Protein Plan has been the fundamental driver of this rebound, coming to cover practically a 9% of said growth. This demonstrates an acceleration in the demand for essential items, with chicken becoming the main food on family tables, followed in a steady manner by pork, beef, and eggs.

Likewise, the Head of State in Charge highlighted the positive performance of the fishing sector within the national diet, which experienced a 3.5% increase in consumption thanks to the direct distribution policies implemented by the Executive branch.

Rodríguez detailed that this sustained growth in consumption indicators is the result of a productive path activated to safeguard food sovereignty and efficiently meet the nutritional requirements of the Venezuelan people. In this regard, the President in Charge stated: «In May, food consumption increased by 9.4%, and protein accounts for practically 9% of that increase… These are good news for the people, good news for the country, that we are on the right track.»
