The Sectoral Vice President for Planning of Venezuela, Ricardo Menéndez, met with the Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais, at the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
In this sense, Al Ghais assured that this meeting served to strengthen relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and this organization: “We discussed the importance of OPEC for Venezuela and the importance of Venezuela to OPEC as a founding member”.
“With pride to be able to help and support, along with my colleagues, Venezuela in the growth of its oil industry and the efforts of President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez,” he affirmed.
He added, “We at OPEC are at your service to cooperate in the oil industry of our beloved country, Venezuela.”
Likewise, the Venezuelan delegation participated in the session on the Global Energy Challenge in the current system of international relations, the restructuring of world markets, and the reduction of use of the US dollar in the face of Western sanctions.
This latest meeting, convened by the Russian Federation, was held under the slogan “Pragmatic Dialogue: The Path to a Stable Future,” a platform on which Menéndez reaffirmed Venezuela’s position on “the pursuit of a framework for relations without sanctions or blockades.”
It is worth noting that this Forum is taking place from June 3 to 6, and Venezuela is actively participating with a delegation representing President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez. This delegation includes the Vice President for Planning, Ricardo Menéndez; the Minister of People’s Power for Industries and Commerce, Luis Villegas; the Minister of People’s Power for Tourism, Daniela Cabello; and the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Trade, Johan Álvarez.
