Deputy Jorge Rodríguez emphasizes importance of Coffee Law

The President of the Legislative Branch, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/National), emphasized the importance of creating the first legal framework to protect the country’s coffee sector with the Coffee Law Bill. He stressed that this bill contrasts sharply with the legislation of other countries in the region:

«In Colombia there are 11 laws that address the issue of coffee. We are currently in the second debate of our first law, and our coffee is far superior to that of Colombia,» highlighted the parliamentarian during the second debate of the bill, which took place this Tuesday.

He explained that with this legal instrument, the National Assembly seeks to settle a historical debt with coffee growers, providing them with competitive tools, financing, and protection so that national coffee not only supplies the domestic market with excellence, but that it may also shine once again in the international market.

It is worth noting that, in compliance with the promise made by Deputy Jorge Rodríguez to the coffee growers of Mérida state in an ordinary session this Tuesday, the Plenary approved the first five articles of this bill, which seeks to foster and promote coffee production processes in Venezuela, and which is expected to be sanctioned on Thursday.
