Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced this Wednesday the creation of the National Office for Cyber Defense and Security, a strategic agency that will be attached to the Council of Vice Presidents.
The measure comes in response to the technological challenges revealed after the foreign military incursion of January 3.
The dignitary reported that the new office will be headed by scientist and Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez.
The fundamental objective of this body will be to integrate the capabilities of national experts and the Military Scientific Council to develop protection protocols for the Venezuelan cyberspace against the use of sophisticated weaponry and emerging technologies.

During the act held in the Courtyard of Honor at the Military Academy in Fort Tiuna, where she received recognition from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the police forces, Rodríguez paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the attacks that happened at the beginning of the year:
“No one surrendered; we were in combat. Honor and glory to the heroes who defended sovereignty with their own lives,” she emphasized.
The Acting President urged the military components and the organized people to maintain the spirit of resilience of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, stressing the importance of science and technology as indispensable tools for the integral defense of the Nation in the new geopolitical landscape.
