The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia González, led the delegation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela attending the opening of the 41st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) this Wednesday, which took place in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and will extend until Friday, October 9.
The opening ceremony was led by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar.
In his address, President Abinader stated that no country in Latin America and the Caribbean can face current challenges by itself, and called to strengthen regional cooperation.
The Caribbean dignitary maintained that development demands sustained growth, macroeconomic stability, solid institutions, confidence, and investment.
ECLAC’s Executive Secretary José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs explained in his remarks that the focus of this new session is shifting from defining development objectives to addressing the «how», this is, the management capabilities, institutional coordination, and mobilization of resources needed to turn policies into concrete results.
