TSJ declares constitutional Decree of Economic Emergency for 60 Days

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared constitutional Decree No. 5,414, through which the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, declared a State of Economic Emergency throughout the national territory for 60 days.

The Chamber declared itself competent to review the decree, published on August 8, 2026 in Official Gazette No. 7,066 Extraordinary, in accordance with the decision contained in ruling No. 0824, corresponding to case file No. 26-0987.

In the ruling, the highest court determined that the Decree conforms to the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the current legal framework.

Likewise, the court ordered the full publication of the sentence in the Official Gazette, the Judicial Gazette and on the TSJ website.
