Inter-Parliamentary Union welcomed readiness of the Government of Venezuela to host dialogue


The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Saber Chowdhury, and the Secretary General of the institution, Martin Chungong, welcomed the readiness of the Government of Venezuela to host the dialogue and expressed it is the only way to resolve the internal political conflict.
The President of the IPU, Saber Chowdhury said that the mandate of the Inter-Parliamentary Union “Is to facilitate dialogue to resolve conflicts without interfering in the internal problems of the countries”.
For his part, Secretary Martin Chungong thanked for the support during his visit to Venezuela in July 2016, in which he held meetings with the authorities of the Bolivarian Government and all political sectors.
During the visit, Chungong offered the possibility that the IPU would also be involved in the search for meetings or dialogues between the parties.
The IPU welcomed the willingness of the Bolivarian Government to receive a mission in Venezuela, “Which we have not been able to perform due to logistical issues,” said secretary Chungong to the Plenary during the presentation of its annual report.
It should be noted that the delegation of the Homeland Block participating in the 135th IPU Assembly is composed of Deputy Dario Vivas, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the IPU, and Deputy Yul Jabour, a member of the Standing Committee on Peace and Security of that world organization, who have been done work in defense of respect for self-determination of peoples and strengthening a multipolar world.
The 135th IPU Assembly takes place in the city of Geneva, Switzerland, from October 23 to 27, 2016, and in the same are involved 171 parliaments with different political and ideological visions.
