President Nicolas Maduro honored the Golden Generation


The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, welcomed at the Miraflores Palace the Venezuelan delegation that participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics, along with the sports authorities of the country.
After the caravan which started from the Simon Bolivar International Airport, where the Venezuelan people accompanied medalists Stefany Hernandez and Yoel Finol, together with the sports authorities of the country; Eduardo Alvarez, president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV), Mervin Maldonado, Pedro Infante, President of the National Sports Institute (IND).
In the event was honored the “Golden Generation” that gave the best performance of the country in the most important sport joust.
The National President awarded the Francisco de Miranda Order in its first class, to the Olympic medalist in BMX cycling, Stefany Hernandez, bronze medalist in boxing Yoel Finol. Similarly, athletes Jessica López with a double diploma in Gymnastics, Rubén Limardo Silvio Fernandez in Fencing, Betzabeth Arguello in fighting, Edgar Contreras in Taekwondo, Gabriel Maestre in Boxing, Pedro Ceballos in Fighting, Angel Pulgar Hersony Canelón in Cycling were awarded the Jose Felix Ribas order.
Nicolas Maduro as Head of State announced the approval of all economic resources for the route to the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as well as to capture “one of the goals for Tokyo 2020 is the installation of the National High Performance Center, with the best specialists in the world”.
The work plan will be framed in order to “stimulate the massification of sports in all disciplines”.
For his part, he guaranteed housing to all the delegation representing us in Rio, as well as an increase of 50% of full scholarships to each one of the athletes, plus one bonus in US dollars for the athletes.
In this sense, the President said, “Our athletes must become into educators, teachers of the future generations”.
“Our boys went with the best preparation for the Olympic Games,” he said.
In this way, a cycle closes with Rio, and starts to be planned the road to the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
