The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that 2019 “was marked by the greatness of our people and their extraordinary capacity for endurance, resistance and sacrifice; the greatness of a people that today has luminous concreteness in the military civic union”.
During his Annual Message to the Nation before the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), which takes place on Tuesday, the head of state highlighted the victory of the Venezuelan people against the aggressions of the United States government and its allies through the application of unilateral coercive measures whose sole objective is to destabilize the country.
“This was a strong year but one of victories; where we show the world that despite the attacks, the country is still at peace”, he said.
During his speech, the Venezuelan leader said that sectors of the opposition act against the national majorities and the interest of the country, by making a detailed account of the events that marked 2019.
He said the opposition does not have clear directionality or sense of belonging, while pointing out that it acts according to the guidelines set by the government of the United States.
“2019 was the year where the Venezuelan right wing broke all moral code, kneeling down to the empire of the United States. They are constantly competing in the matter of genuflection to please their imperial masters”, he said.
The President makes his presentation in a special session in the Protocol Chamber of the Federal Legislative Palace, in Caracas, before the Military High Command, diplomatic corps accredited in the country, authorities of the public powers and governors.
