Venezuela formally assumed pro-tempore presidency of Mercosur

With the hoisting of the flag of the Southern Common Market at the Plaza Bolivar in Caracas, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela assumed on Friday the pro-tempore presidency of the aforementioned body.
The activity was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Delcy Rodríguez, who noted that soon will be announced the plans that has the Head of State, Nicolas Maduro, for the exercise of the pro-tempore presidency.
She thanked the Chancellors of Bolivia and Uruguay for the support during the activity and highlighted that, despite the intentions of some member countries of violating the founding treaties of Mercosur, in the end it prevailed the rule of law.
In recent days the Chancellery of the Republic denounced “the machinations of the extreme right wing of the south of the Continent, formed into a new triple alliance, which has been acting in a sneaky way, through legalistic maneuvers, to try to hinder what it rightfully corresponds (to Venezuela)”.
