Venezuela thanks China for its unwavering defense of Peace and Sovereignty in Latin America

The Venezuelan government expressed its gratitude to China for its firm defense of peace and sovereignty in Latin America. Chancellor Yván Gil praised China’s strong support in the face of recent US threats in the region.

Through his accounts on social media, Chancellor Gil thanked, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, for China’s «unwavering support» for the right of Latin America and the Caribbean to be respected as a Zone of Peace. This principle was declared by CELAC in 2014 and now receives significant international support.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Chancellory, Mao Ning, manifested her government’s opposition to the patrolling of US warships near the Venezuelan coast. In her statement, she made it clear that China firmly supports the CELAC declaration and rejects any action that violates the sovereignty of other countries.

The Chinese statement was forceful in rejecting any «interference by external forces in Venezuela’s internal affairs, under any pretext.» It also demanded that the United States conduct its operations within established bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks.

This stance by China aligns with the condemnations from various organizations and governments regarding the US military deployment in the Caribbean. The diplomatic coordination between Venezuela and China strengthens the regional position against what they consider threats to sovereignty.

The Chinese pronouncement represents significant international support for Venezuela amidst regional tensions. This diplomatic alliance reinforces Venezuela’s position in defense of its sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in its internal affairs.
