The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the beginning of the consultation process on the State of External Unrest Decree, a mechanism provided for in the Constitution to protect the people and safeguard the peace and stability of the nation against external aggression.
The head of state made this announcement during the 92nd broadcast of his “Con Maduro+” program, broadcast from the headquarters of Mission Venezuela Joven (Young Venezuela) in Caracas. From there, he explained the scope and fundamental purposes of this decree, emphasizing its defensive nature against potential attacks.
He emphasized that this measure is contemplated in the event that Venezuela were militarily attacked by the US empire. The decree is presented as a legal instrument to confront an escalation of conflicts that could compromise the country’s sovereignty.
The president recalled the various forms of aggression the country has faced: «We have been attacked economically, and we have moved forward. We have been attacked psychologically and politically, and we have moved forward,» he emphasized during his speech.
Despite this call for defense, the President emphasized that the Venezuelan people do not represent a threat to any other country. On the contrary, he defined them as a hope for a world of peace and harmony, guided by the integrationist principles of Simón Bolívar.
Finally, he reaffirmed the Bolivarian ideal of a united and free America: «For us, the Homeland is the entire Americas, and the entire Americas must be free and united,» he concluded, emphasizing that the exceptional measure has a protective, not an offensive, purpose, aligned with this vision of a great homeland.
