Five years after its implementation, President Nicolás Maduro reaffirmed the Anti-Blockade Law as a crucial tool to confront the most brutal aggression against Venezuela. The president emphasized that, despite the adversities, the Venezuelan people remains willing to defend their sovereignty and social happiness.

Through his accounts on social media, he recalled that this legislation was the first major step toward creating a legal framework that would allow them to overcome the situation of an imposed economic war. He emphasized that its objective was to break new patterns, build new paradigms, and strengthen public management to improve the nation’s income.

The head of state acknowledged that the sanctions and the blockade have deeply wounded the Venezuelan population. However, he emphasized that these actions have not erased the smiles on their faces or the infinite solidarity that characterizes the people.

He asserted that this struggle has demonstrated the true nature of Venezuelans, whom he defined as the sons and daughters of historical figures such as Bolívar, Guaicaipuro, Zamora, and Chávez. With this, he sought to frame the current resistance within a tradition of struggle for sovereignty.

Qualifying the blockade as “a perverse crime» designed to attack dignity and the right to life, the president asserted that the nation is stronger than ever. The central objective, he reiterated, is to defend national sovereignty and the project of social happiness.

During the presentation of the project five years ago, the president expressed his conviction that, with work and unity, «the darkness of the blockade» will be defeated. His vision is to elevate the Venezuelan people toward their historic destiny of development and well-being on the path of socialism.
