The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA-TCP) expressed their unanimous support for Venezuela this Thursday in the face of the military pressure exerted by the United States (US) in the Caribbean Sea. During a meeting, the alliance representatives praised multilateralism as a viable geopolitical alternative to guarantee world peace.

The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, openly questioned the US military presence: «Having warships in our waters, as well as a nuclear submarine, makes it impossible to seriously think that these people are there to combat drug trafficking,» he stated, emphasizing the need to persuade the US that its strategy is wrong and counterproductive.

Gonsalves highlighted the existence of established channels of cooperation, such as UN agencies, for the fight against drugs. His remarks culminated with a powerful rhetorical question: «Could it be that what the Americans want is a regime change in Venezuela?» He questioned the real motives behind the military deployment.

From Nicaragua, Chancellor Denis Moncada described the support as a «resounding response to centuries of plunder.» He warned that, faced with «the irreversible decline of imperial hegemony,» the US government is resorting to aggression against Venezuela. He reiterated his «militant solidarity» with the sister nation, which he defined as a bastion of active anti-imperialist resistance.

For her part, Bolivian Chancellor Celinda Sosa emphasized that multilateralism is the only guarantee for peace and inclusion. She maintained that ALBA-TCP is consolidating its position as a key player in strengthening the region’s voice and demanded reform of the UN Security Council and the international financial system to accommodate historically marginalized peoples.

The ALBA-TCP meeting made clear a unified regional stance rejecting unilateral actions. Support for Venezuela is part of a strategic vision that promotes cooperation and diplomacy as pillars for addressing current geopolitical challenges, strengthening the bloc as a space of sovereignty and solidarity.
