The Venezuelan government officially celebrated the growing international recognition of the State of Palestine by numerous countries.

Through a statement published by Chancellor Yván Gil, the Bolivarian Republic supported the diplomatic efforts aimed at implementing the solution of two states.

This solution would entail the recognition of the Palestinian borders previous to 1967 and ratify East Jerusalem as the legitimate capital of Palestine. Venezuela considers this progress a crucial step toward justice and sovereignty for the Palestinian people.

However, the official statement harshly criticized the United States for preventing Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from participating in the 80th session of the UN. The document described the denial of his visa as “an act of aggression against multilateralism» and a violation of international law.

The statement extended its condemnation to the Zionist State of Israel for its illegal occupation and continued genocide. Venezuela strongly condemned the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, by noting that since October 2023 they have cut the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinian lives.

Likewise, the text reiterates Venezuela’s full support for the Palestinian cause, in line with its Bolivarian tradition of solidarity with the peoples who fight for their self-determination. It makes a call on the international community to break its silence and act firmly.

Finally, Venezuela urged to defense justice, sovereignty, and peace, concluding that, eighty years after the founding of the UN, it is unpostponable to stop the violence and advance towards a diplomatic solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people.
