President Nicolás Maduro convenes national unity against threats against Venezuela

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called for unity among all sectors of the country as the only way to contain and defeat the external threats the nation is facing. This message was central during the inauguration of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, an event held this Tuesday that will be replicated in all states to strengthen the defense of Venezuelan territory.

During his speech, the president expressed that unity is essential to preserving peace: «The way to contain the threat, neutralize it, and fully defeat it, for peace, is the unity of all sectors of Venezuela,» he stated, underscoring the need for a common front in the face of external adversities.

In this regard, he stressed the urgency of halting the «military and interventionist threats of Yankee imperialism.» He argued that only through the unity of the entire people can the interests and sovereignty of Venezuela prevail over any foreign aggression.

The head of state also addressed the country’s internal position, acknowledging that there would be sectors that would support an intervention. However, he was emphatic in stating that «there will be traitors who applaud an invasion, but the vast majority of this country wants peace, sovereignty, and a homeland,» distinguishing between a minority and the general sentiment of the population.

Concluding his speech, he emphasized that unity must transcend any type of difference. He made a call to make national cohesion prevail «beyond political, ideological, color, cultural, and religious differences,» advocating for a common goal that benefits the entire nation.

The National Council for Sovereignty and Peace stands as the platform to channel ideas and proposals that strengthen the country’s defense. Its establishment at the national level seeks to foster dialogue that consolidates a unified strategy in the face of a constant threat to its sovereignty.
