Orchila Island will be the central scenario for the «Caribe Soberano 200» (Sovereign Caribbean 200) Military Field Exercise, an integral military exercise designed to test the nation’s defense capabilities. The announcement was made by the Vice President for Defense and Sovereignty, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López.
The senior official explained that this exercise involves the deployment of a joint task force that will integrate aerospace components, special forces, intelligence, electronic warfare, and ground units. The objective is to conduct an integral operation that evaluates the coordinated response of all personnel.
The exercise will deploy a powerful air defense capability, which will include the use of armed and surveillance drones, along with submarine and aerial assets. This operation seeks to ensure surveillance of the sector and demonstrate its offensive capabilities in a strategic setting.
Will also be observed the deployment of BUST anti-aircraft defense systems and ZU artillery. The minister highlighted the crucial role of the FANB Special Forces, whose mission will be to gather intelligence and infiltrate by air, sea, and land, including reconnaissance of underwater spaces.
Intelligence and electronic warfare will collect, analyze, and share critical information to implement effective actions. This component is vital for tactical and strategic decision-making during the operation.
Finally, the maritime task force will carry out a large-scale deployment that will include coastal firing, amphibious landings, and coastal artillery exercises. The «Caribe Soberano 200» maneuver represents a demonstration of strength and preparedness in an area of high geostrategic value for the country.
